Is public transport easy to use in Santiago

The Metro is fast and super reliable, especially Line 1. Just get a Bip! card and recharge it. Buses can be confusing, so stick to the subway for long distances.

The Metro is great, especially for the core areas. Line 1 runs through almost all the key tourist stops. You definitely need the Bip! card though, as you can't pay cash on the buses or trains. Get and charge it right away.

Trying to decide if I should rely on the metro and buses or if I need to budget for more Ubers
For a first-timer, Uber might feel easier, but the Metro is very efficient and clean. The downside is that it gets extremely crowded during morning and evening commutes, especially Line 1, so prepare for a squeeze.

The Metro is easy to use, and a single Bip! card works for both the Metro and the micros (buses). Once you figure out the card system, getting around is cheap and simple.

Line 1 is fine, but also use the newer, colorful lines like Line 6. They are often less crowded and move even faster than the older sections of the system. The Metro is definitely a good budget option.
