Is traveling around Australia as expensive as everyone claims it is right now

I'm trying to figure out a daily budget but the cost of accommodation and domestic flights seems very high what's a realistic daily spend

It's expensive, especially for tourists, but you can cut costs by cooking your own meals and maybe looking at hostels or camping outside the main cities.
