Why are the Trains SO Bad right now? (Need a vent!)

Paying a lot for a high-speed train only for it to be delayed by over an hour is becoming the daily norm, and the missed connections are making travel impossible. Seriously, what is going on with the Deutsche Bahn punctuality?

The main issue is that Germany's rail infrastructure is really old and overloaded. They under-invested in it for years, so now they have to do massive, long-term construction projects on major routes (like the Riedbahn).
