Madrid's Puerta del Sol renovations - a big distraction?

The major construction at Puerta del Sol made the whole center of Madrid feel chaotic and blocked off. It really ruined the experience of a central plaza. Was your visit similar?

That is such a disappointment. Major construction can definitely ruin the feeling of a historic central square like Puerta del Sol. It makes everything feel blocked off and chaotic. I missed that during my visit, but it's a real shame that was your experience.
